Everest, Kathmandu, Oct. 7: A special art exhibition titled ‘Art for Humanity’ has started at the Nepal Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the Bhotekoshi River floods.

The exhibition, which began on Monday, aims to raise funds for the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund to provide immediate relief, support and long-term rehabilitation to families and communities affected by the devastating flood on August 26.

Artists from across Nepal, along with art galleries, artists’ groups, art and cultural organisations, educational institutions, students, curators, art collectors and art lovers, are taking part in the exhibition. Foreign artists are also participating in the exhibition.

Of the proceeds from the sale of artworks, 70 per cent will be deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, 10 per cent in the Artists’ Relief Fund, while 20 per cent will go to the artists.

More than 200 artworks by over 160 artists are on display. They include traditional and folk art, paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, printmaking, installations, mixed media and digital art.

The Nepal Academy of Fine Arts has appealed for public participation and support to connect the creativity, sensitivity and social responsibility of artists with humanitarian service during this difficult time.
