Veteran Bollywood Actor Nana Patekar Dies at 75
Everest, Kathmandu, October 8- Veteran Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has died at the age of 75, according to Indian media reports. According to the reports, he died of cardiac arrest.
He reportedly passed away at 5:20 a.m. today. Attempts were made to revive him with continuous CPR for 45 minutes.
Nana Patekar was one of the most prominent actors in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He was born on January 1, 1951, in Murud-Janjira, Maharashtra. He was not only an actor but also worked as a film producer, director and writer. Considered one of the influential actors in Indian cinema, Patekar carved out a distinct place for himself through his unique acting style and powerful dialogue delivery.
Nana Patekar made his Hindi cinema debut with the 1978 film Gaman. During the early phase of his career, he worked in both Marathi and Hindi films. His performance in Mira Nair’s Salaam Bombay! in 1988 received widespread acclaim.
His career took a significant turn with the 1989 film Parinda. He won the National Film Award and Filmfare Award for his portrayal of a gangster in the film.
Throughout his long career, Nana Patekar portrayed a wide range of characters. His notable films include Ankush, Pratighaat, Prahaar, Tirangaa, Krantiveer, Agni Sakshi, Khamoshi: The Musical, Ab Tak Chhappan, Apaharan, Raajneeti, Welcome and Welcome Back.
Known for his intense and powerful performances, Patekar also made a strong impact in comedy and commercial films. His portrayal of Uday Shetty in Welcome showcased another side of his acting and became highly popular among audiences.
Nana Patekar was last seen in Vishal Bhardwaj’s romantic action thriller O’Romeo. Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri played the lead roles in the film. Released in February 2026, the film featured Patekar as Ismail Khan, the chief of the Mumbai Intelligence Bureau.
